This week we have been running a focus week to ensure children have further opportunities for developing skills for learning, life and work. The skills are relevant from the early years right through to the senior phase of learning and should provide learners with a sound basis for their development as lifelong learners in their adult, social and working lives. These skills are developed across all curriculum areas, in interdisciplinary studies and in all the contexts and settings where young people are learning.
During our ‘World of Work’ week we offer our children the chance to meet people who have a variety of career backgrounds, so they can find out about what is involved. We have been very fortunate to have been visited by scientists, Councillors, dance teachers, dentists, managers, paramedics, podiatrists, Crime Scene Investigators and many more. We also had a visit from Ross Thomson MSP. This year the children have been exploring the use of technology including being given the opportunity to use Virtual Reality equipment and a class also took part in a Skype call to the Bloomberg offices in London where they were shown around the office environment.
We would like to thank all of our contributors for giving up their time We wouldn’t be able to run this initiative without their input and we are very grateful for all the effort that has been put into the sessions. Please take a look at some of the photos from the week. More photos will follow next week.
