Visit from NESBreC

The Eco Group have been busy again in October. We invited Glenn Roberts from NESBreC to speak to the Primary 3  classes. He presented information about the way that NESBreC North East Scotland Biological Records Center record wildlife and the types of wildlife that you would find in the North East of Scotland. This was particularly relevant to Primary 3 because they are completing a comparison between the rain forest and Scottish Woodland. The pupils will take part in the Pod ‘Under Your Feet’ project after the October holidays and survey the types of insects found in our school garden. They will also feedback to NESbreC with their findings. If anyone is interested in noting wildlife found in the local area then they can send their findings to NESBreC on their website.

The Eco Group also showed Glenn round the school garden and got some tips on how to encourage wildlife in the school garden. It seems we have some really good plants already from our planting last year for enticing bees and butterflies into the garden. We just need to keep an eye on the hedgehog house in case we get a wee visitor.
