Airyhall continues to link with Johnston Gardens

Our primary one classes decided to visit our local park Johnston Gardens this week to extend their IDL topic on an artist study. They took their art materials down to the park and looked at the various wildlife and plants. They also took some of the lovely painted rocks provided by Primary 2B and hid them in Johnston Gardens. They wanted to join in the spirit of the ‘Aberdeen Rocks’ initiative. Pupils also found three other rocks hidden in the gardens. When primary one returned to Airyhall School they created their own leaflets to advertise Johnston Gardens.

Primary five  have also been working with Jim the Gardener from Johnston Gardens. They helped to install bird boxes in the park, created by Jim, a couple of weeks ago. Jim has also been kind enough to make bird boxes for our school garden. We look forward to having them installed on Friday of Eco Week. Jim also took film footage of local birds using the bird boxes, which we will be sharing with primary one and primary five.  Primary five have also been working on posters to encourage visitors of the park not to feed bread to the ducks.

We look forward the Nursery pupils visiting the park next month.
