We were very fortunate to have two visitors from the James Hutton Institute today talking to us about their roles in the institute and the links they have with sustainability. Scott Herret, research assistant and Joshua Msika research assistant and sustainability coordinator visited Primary 5 and Primary 4.
Scott introduced the background to the James Hutton Institute and his role. Scott spent a 40 days without using plastic. He managed it however there a few things that he didn’t manage to live without. The pupils had some very interesting questions and they shared what they have been doing to reduce plastic. Earlier in the term primary 4 wrote to Rosanna Cunningham MSP to ask about policies for plastic use and they made some suggestions.
Primary 5 had a visit from Joshua Msika who spoke about sustainability on three levels; personal, organisational and national. It was interesting to see that the research that Joshua had looked into about communities taking on environmental
