This Tuesday past (5th February) was Internet Safety Day. Internet Safety Day 2019 was bigger than ever with 2,100 organisations and schools across the UK getting involved to help inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. P6R took part in a number of activities surrounding the topic of Cyberbullying – a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. We had a class discussion surrounding social media platforms and how these can be used negatively. We watched a short cyberbullying film called “Let’s Fight It Together” which was about a boy who was a victim of cyberbullying. We then discussed the feelings of all characters involved as well as the terms accessory and bystander before taking part in an interactive game used to reinforce learning from the film. Next week, we will continue to learn about what we can do to be a responsible digital citizen and how to stay safe online.
