It is hard to believe that we are in term 3 already! We arrived back to school after the Christmas holidays and got straight back down to business. We have enjoyed learning about ‘Democracy and Politics’ and packed an awful lot of learning into a short 4 week topic. We were visited by parliament and visited the Townhouse to deepen our knowledge and understanding of how politics and democracy affect us. Tied in with this we have written persuasively to our local MPs and written balanced reports about important issues, including the possibility of reducing 30mph road limits to 20mph.
We have also enjoyed learning all about TextHelp with Miss Winchester and hope to make use of this more often in the classroom to support our learning, primarily in reading and writing.
We are all thoroughly inspired after another fantastic World of Work week. We had the pleasure of inviting in a Marine Biologist, Immigration Officer, Physiotherapist, Forensic Scientist and our local Reverend, Mr Blackwood to our classroom. We were in awe of those who came in to share their stories, skills and achievements with us. Thank you! What a fun week.
In the midst of World of Work week we also took part in ‘Internet Safety Day’. We wrote a balanced report on whether the internet has had a positive or negative effect on children today. What do you think our final decision was?
Oh! Finally, we do hope all parents, grandparents and friends are enjoying our ‘Best Part of Me’ calendars. We will soon revisit poetry after our current focus on Scots and ‘Georgie’s Mingin’ Medicine’.
