February has been very busy so far, we have been on trips and welcomed lots of visitors to the class for both our Democracy and Politics topic and World of Work Week.
At the beginning of the month we welcomed Mr Liam Kerr MSP and Mrs Maureen Watt MSP from Holyrood to round off our project. We learned lots about the day to day duties of an MSP and what inspired them to take up this career.
We then went for a visit to Aberdeen City Council Town House and learned all about the workings of local government and their decision making processes.
We were also very lucky to have lots of really interesting speakers during World of Work Week. We welcomed a Lawyer, Bank Manager, Paramedics, Marine Scientist, Data Analyst and Orthotic and Prosthetic professionals. We learned all about the skills that these careers need and the various routes to enter these professions.
We were then off on another trip up to Hazlehead Academy on Thursday to join in an intergenerational ceilidh arranged by the S3 Leadership Group. We enjoyed music, dance and poetry and the odd apple pie and Bourbon biscuit!
We are looking forward to welcoming Mums,Dads, Grannies, Grandpas and Carers to our class again on Wednesday for the Open Afternoon to further share our learning.
